Many of us have jokingly made the comment, “if only I could transfer this fat to another part of my body.” Well, you can! Many plastic surgeons like Dr. Mark A. Bishara have performed many liposuction with fat transfer procedures. The procedure is safe and provides natural looking results.

Who should consider a fat transfer?

According to smartbeautyguide.com, people who consider getting a fat transfer are patients who have facial areas that appear creased or sunken, people that want more permanent correction than what fillers provide, and people that would like to do body contouring and breast reconstruction. The most popular fat transfer procedure performed is the buttock augmentation because more and more people want to have a rounder and fuller buttock.

How to know if you are a good candidate

The first step for this procedure would be to schedule a consultation with Dr. Mark A. Bishara. During your consultation, you and Dr. Bishara will talk about what your goals are and he will evaluate and provide you with different options. Paragon Plastic Surgery & Med Spa will use different machines, such as the Vectra, which is a 3D imaging device that helps give you an understanding as to what your results will look like after the procedure.

How its done…

The fat being transferred is taken from areas such as the outer thighs, abdomen and flanks. Once marking the area, the fat will be taken from the area on your body using a cannula. Once the fat has been extracted, it goes through the purification process where the fat cells are transferred into small syringes. The next step will be the preparation of the area where the fat will be transferred. Using a needle or a cannula, Dr. Mark A. Bishara will then begin inserting the fatty tissues. The same process is repeated until the desired shape has been achieved.

After the procedure

After the procedure, swelling and bruising are common during the first week. On week 2, you will still have some swelling but bruising should start going away. Following the third week, you will notice that everything will start look normal. Instructions about drains and other symptoms will be reviewed with you after the procedure and written instructions will be provided as well. Following recovery, you may notice tiny scars that will fade with time but sometimes they are not visible.

Tummy tuck or breast augmentation is what most people think; for Mitchell Hunter, it was full face transplant. Only a handful of individuals in the world have ever experienced what its like to get a whole new face.
It all started in 2001 when Mitchell did the unthinkable, saved a woman from being terribly injured by a live wire following a car accident and in turn suffered the strike, losing his face and leg. Before the transplant in 2011 at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Hunter couldn’t avoid awkward stares and time with his son without attracting a lot of unwanted attention.
Five years later he is speaking out for the first time. “I would like to tell people just not to worry about the small things, live life,” says Hunter. “Tell the people you love you love them because you never know when that can be taken away.”
Life is a lot different for Mitchell today and thanks to a donor and over 30 doctors, nurses and anesthesiologists, Hunter has a new lease on life, a new job and plans to attend Indy 500.

Plastic surgeons all over the country are offering a shall we say “very interactive” approach to medicine.
Dr. Miami also know as Dr. Michael Salzhauer is taking the camera phone into the operating room. Want to know how a brazilian butt lift is done? Watch it via his snapchat. With 130,000 followers on Instagram and 12,000+ on Twitter, nothing about his procedures is left to the imagination.
Think its crazy? Well maybe not. More and more clients are open to bringing you in on the experience. This platform allows the next patient to get an idea of what to expect. “ This allows people to actually see what the process is like. It demystifies it so it’s a lot easier for them to take the plunge, so to speak, “ he said.
Makes sense right? One patient even said she was happy to share her story and thought how cool is it, stating I can watch my surgery later…
Want to know what your favorite plastic surgeon is doing in the O.R.? Prop your feet up and check it out from the comfort of your couch. Dr. Matthew Schulman has “several hundred thousand” followers and 450,000 views daily. That’s a lot of people interested in watching you go under the knife.
Platforms like snapchat and twitter allow the surgeon a truly interactive relationship, with not only their existing clientele, but new patients as well. Its an educational platform, in real time. What more could you ask for? Does this violate privacy and HIPAA? You bet it does, but physicians simply ask for consent and have an open dialogue on what will and will not be shared.

Breast augmentation for women at least 22 years old for silicone-filled implants.
Breast augmentation for women at least 18 years old for saline-filled implants.
Breast augmentation includes primary breast augmentation to increase breast size, as well as revision surgery to correct or improve the result of a primary breast augmentation surgery.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION
Who should NOT get breast implants (CONTRAINDICATIONS)?

Breast implant surgery should not be performed in women with active infection anywhere in their body, with existing cancer or pre-cancer of their breast who have not received adequate treatment for those conditions, and women who are currently pregnant or nursing.
What else should I consider (WARNINGS)?
Breast implants are not lifetime devices or necessarily a one-time surgery. You may experience unacceptable dimpling, puckering, wrinkling, or other cosmetic changes of the breast, which may be permanent. Breast implants may affect your ability to produce milk for breastfeeding. Silicone-filled implants may rupture without symptoms. MRI examinations 3 years after surgery and then 2 years after can detect ruptures. Symptoms of a ruptured implant may be hard knots or lumps surrounding the implant or in the armpit, change or loss of size or shape of the breast or implant, pain, tingling, swelling, numbness, burning or hardening. Talk to your doctor about removing ruptured implants. Inform any other doctor if you have implants.

Breast implants are still overwhelming choice for women, but since 2000 breast lifts are up 70 percent

New statistics released by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) show that breast lift procedures are growing at twice the rate of breast implant surgeries. Since 2000, breast lifts have grown by 70 percent, outpacing implants two-to-one. Breast implants are still by far the most performed cosmetic surgery in women, but lifts are steadily gaining. In 2013, more than 90,000 breast lift procedures were performed by ASPS member surgeons.
“Many women are looking for a youthful breast by using the tissue they already have,” said ASPS President Robert X. Murphy, Jr., MD.
According to the new statistics, women between the ages of 30-54 made up nearly 70 percent of the breast lift procedures performed in 2013.
According to the latest statistics from ASPS, fewer than 53,000 breast lifts were performed in 2000. Last year there were 90,006, an increase of 70 percent since 2000.
Breast augmentation remains the most popular plastic surgery procedure for women. In 2013, there were 290,224 breast augmentation surgeries performed by ASPS member surgeons. That represents a growth of 37% since 2000, just under half the rate of breast lifts.
