Facial wrinkles occur because people lose skin elasticity as they age, but there are also habits that can contribute to premature signs of aging. For example, forgoing sunscreen can cause sun damage, which leads to lines on the face. Repetitive motions, such as constantly squinting at the sun or sucking on a cigarette, can also make you more likely to develop wrinkles. In a recent article, The Inquisitr identified another potential cause of facial lines: water bottles.

Think before you drink
If you live in an area that has less-than-stellar tap water, drinking bottled water may seem like a no-brainer. There’s nothing wrong, nutritionally, with drinking H2O from a bottle, but the cosmetic dermatologist told the news source that it’s the repetitive motion that could cause lines to form around the mouth when they otherwise might not.
“We tell our patients, keep on drinking, it’s great for your body, it’s great for your health, it’s great for your skin,” a physician said in the interview. “Unfortunately, over time it either causes these lines or it aggravates them.”
Of course, there are ways to avoid this issue. Water purifiers may do the trick if you’d rather drink from the tap, and this will also save you money in the long run. You can pour your bottled water into a cup or drink through a straw, thus eliminating the lip-pursing motion.

A cosmetic solution
Unfortunately, for those of us who have been drinking out of water bottles for years, this news may come a bit late in the game. If wrinkles have already formed, you can discuss other options with a plastic surgeon. Facelifts and deep chemical peels offer long-term results that can make you appear younger, while dermal fillers can help fill deep wrinkles and reshape the facial contours.

Have you ever wondered why some people get wrinkles at a young age and others don’t? There are many answers to this question – smoking can cause wrinkles to form sooner, and if you don’t wear sunscreen when you’re young, you can expect signs of aging to surface earlier rather than later. But a new study finds another potential cause of early facial lines – the genes we get from our mothers.
What your mama gave you
For some time now, it’s been known that the mitochondria, often referred to as the “powerhouses” of the cells that make up our bodies, have a lot to do with aging. As these mitochondria sustain damage, they mutate and lose their ability to produce energy, resulting in the breakdown of the cells that leads to signs of aging.
The new study, published in the journal Nature, finds that the mitochondrial DNA passed down to us from our mothers also influences our own rate of aging. In other words, if your mother had wrinkles at a young age, you might be more likely to see fine lines on your own face in your early years. On the flip side, if your mother had smooth, blemish-free skin well into her 40s or 50s, you could be in for the same luck.
Looking to the future
This study focused solely on cell aging and genetics, but researchers hope that it may help future development of therapeutic interventions that could focus on mitochondrial function, thus slowing the aging process. Unfortunately, such developments probably won’t be available for some time until more research can be conducted.
However, there are certain cosmetic procedures available today that can help people who show signs of premature aging. No matter whether you want long-term results that target deep facial lines or something less invasive that treats fine lines, you can likely benefit from a visit to a board-certified plastic surgeon’s office.
For example, Botox injections, which have become immensely popular over the past few years, offer results that last for several months. This means you won’t have to make a big commitment like you would if you chose to undergo facelift surgery, but on the downside, you’ll need to continue to get injections of the substance to keep wrinkles at bay.

As gravity takes its toll (plus a loosening of the muscles and tissue, as well as changes in the amount and positioning of fat), the face and certain areas of it can take on a saggy appearance. Collagen and elastin are essential for firm skin but they both break down over the years. As this happens and fat is lost, there is a weakening of the internal support structure that keeps skin where it needs to be.
Get Rid of A Saggy Neck With A Necklift
Many women simply forget to treat the area below the chin, but nothing screams your age like a saggy neck with wrinkles and bands. Neurotoxins can soften the bands, but the only way to get rid of the turkey wattle is with a necklift. During the procedure, the weak muscles of the neck are tightened up and loose skin is excised. Tightening the neck muscles and skin is key when fixing a saggy neck.
Tighten Lax Skin With A facelift
The only permanent way to fully correct skin laxity in the neck and face is with surgical excision. As we age, the soft tissue of the face deflates and descends creating an aged appearance. Because the fibrous attachments between the skin and the deeper structures are looser in some areas more than others, some parts of the face, like the lower cheeks, midface and neck, may experience more drooping—this accounts for the classic signs of aging: jowls, loose skin on the neck and deep smile lines.  A facelift re-elevates and repositions the skin, reclaiming the position it once had. With most facelift surgeries, but not all, volume needs to be restored to the areas where it has been lost from to create a fully rejuvenated look. The face becomes hollow with age and if we just the skin in just tightened and volume isn’t replaced, you can actually look older.

Minimize Loose Skin With Skin Tightening Treatments
Near infrared technology is used to penetrate deep heat to the deepest layers of tissue. This stimulates collagen production and tightens lax skin. Nearly any patient seeking fuller, tighter skin can benefit from laser skin tightening as a safe, noninvasive and effective procedure. The laser skin tightening procedure can be fully customized to help each patient receive the best possible results, depending on the skin condition, size and location of the targeted area and the strength of the laser exposure. Treatments should be performed once every two weeks for a total of 6, followed by quarterly maintenance.

What is a tummy tuck?

A flat and well-toned abdomen is something many of us strive for through exercise and weight control. Sometimes these methods cannot achieve our goals.
Even individuals of otherwise normal body weight and proportion can develop an abdomen that protrudes or is loose and sagging. The most common causes of this include:

  • Pregnancy
  • Aging
  • Significant fluctuations in weight
  • Heredity
  • Prior surgery

What a tummy tuck won’t do:
Tummy tucks are not a substitute for weight loss or an appropriate exercise program. Also, tummy tuck operations cannot correct stretch marks, although these may be removed or somewhat improved if they are located on the areas of excess skin that will be excised, generally the treated areas below the belly button.

Tummy tuck words to know

  • Abdominoplasty/Tummy Tuck A surgical procedure to correct the apron of excess skin hanging over your abdomen.
  • Diastasis: Condition in which abdominal muscles have separated.
  • General anesthesia: Drugs and/or gases used during an operation to relieve pain and alter consciousness
  • Intravenous sedation: Sedatives administered by injection into a vein to help you relax.
  • Liposuction: Also called lipoplasty or suction lipectomy, this procedure vacuums out fat from beneath the skin’s surface to reduce fullness.
  • Local anesthesia: A drug is injected directly to the site of an incision during an operation to relieve pain.
  • Sutures: Stitches used by surgeons to hold skin and tissue together.

Jennifer Aniston and Hugh Jackman are the most requested celebrity plastic surgery looks, a leading cosmetic expert has revealed.
Nurse Jamie Sherrill, the co-founder of Beauty Park Medical Spa in Santa Monica, California, told MailOnline that clients spend up to $100,000 in a bid to get the same facial features as the two screen stars.
But when it comes to the body, women request Gisele Bündchen’s supermodel figure while men opt for actor Channing Tatum’s buff pecs and abs, as seen in the 2012 film Magic Mike.
For those who can’t afford a full transformation, more focused procedures are an attractive alternative.
Nurse Jamie says that female patients usually ask for Angelina Jolie’s pillowly lips, Katy Perry’s porcelain skin, Keira Knightley’s chiseled jawline and Megan Fox’s feline eyes.
Meanwhile Beyonce has sparked interest in the arena of buttock implants, with fans bringing photographs of her sculpted derriere to consultations.
Twilight heartthrob Robert Pattinson is the main source of inspiration when it comes to men altering their jawlines.
And for a fuller look, the majority lust after Leonardo DiCaprio’s boyish cheeks.

MAKE ME A STAR! THE TOP A-LIST-INSPIRED PLASTIC SURGERIES

WOMEN

  • Overall look – Jennifer Aniston
  • Body – Gisele Bündchen
  • Jawline – Keira Knightley
  • Eyes – Megan Fox
  • Skin – Katy Perry
  • Lips – Angelina Jolie
  • Butt – Beyonce

MEN

  • Overall look – Hugh Jackman
  • Body – Channing Tatum
  • Jawline – Robert Pattinson
  • Eyes – Ian Somerhalder
  • Skin – Orlando Bloom
  • Cheeks – Leonardo DiCaprio

On the eye front, Vampire Diaries actor Ian Somerhalder is the most frequent request with his piercing glassy-blue peepers, and for a flawless visage Orlando Bloom is top choice.
Whereas 15% of her clients used to be men, Nurse Jamie says that number has shot up to 40%.
She adds that celebrity-inspired makeovers have become increasingly common.

In a bid to avoid disappointment, she makes it clear to patients that they will not look the same as their A-list crush after going under the knife.

Explaining how she goes about mimicking the features of stars she said: ‘Obviously I cannot make celebrity doppelgangers – but if someone comes in and has full lips and wants them to look like Angelina Jolie’s I can make them appear more in the style of that but not the same.
‘For example Angelina’s lower lip is dramatically fuller than her upper lip – in that case I know what look the patient has in mind and I then use that as a road map.’

Surprising trend: Nurse Jamie says that she also gets celebrity clients wanting to look like other celebrities
She says that body dysmorphic disorder – a condition where an attractive person believes they’re ugly no matter how comely they might appear to other people – is a concern in her line of work.
However, she says that this type of situation is ‘painfully obvious’ and she will not treat patients whose fascination with looking like someone famous appears out of control.

She concluded: ‘It is important to remember that all celebrity looks are not achievable and natural looking on everyone.”
