Michelle Obama, who turned 50 over the weekend, isn’t ruling out using plastic surgery or Botox in the future.
“Women should have the freedom to do whatever they need to do to feel good about themselves,” the first lady told People magazine in an interview hitting newsstands Friday, her birthday. “Right now, I don’t imagine that I would go that route, but I’ve also learned to never say never.”
Her message to women is to be healthy. Mrs. Obama says she has never missed a health checkup, including mammograms and Pap smears. She’s also had a colonoscopy.
“I don’t obsess about what I eat, but I do make sure that I’m eating vegetables and fruit,” added Mrs. Obama. “And as everyone knows, I do exercise.” Her “Let’s Move” campaign to reduce childhood obesity rates through the combination of exercise and healthier eating enters its fifth year next month.
Her workouts have also evolved from weight-bearing and cardio exercises to include things like yoga that she says will help keep her flexible.
Asked whether she has peaked at 50, Mrs. Obama joked that being first lady is “pretty high up.” She said she’s always felt that her life is “ever-evolving” and she doesn’t have the right to “just sit on my talents or blessings.”
“I’ve got to keep figuring out ways to have an impact, whether as a mother or as a professional or as a mentor to other kids,” the first lady said, noting that daughter Malia, now 15, will be in college when she and President Barack Obama leave the White House in January 2017. Daughter Sasha, 12, won’t be far behind.
“At that point in life, whoa, the sky is the limit,” Mrs. Obama said.
Despite her nonchalance about her upcoming milestone, Mrs. Obama noted that some things can still make her feel older. “Well, there are those times when your staff tell you they were born the year you were graduating from college. It’s like, really? Really? That hurts,” she said, laughing. “But I don’t feel that much differently than I did when I was younger.”
President Obama told People that he’s “always in awe” of his wife as she approaches her 50th birthday.
“Michelle is actually more beautiful now than when I met her,” he said. “And I think she’s wiser.”
Beyonce and Stevie Wonder rocked the White House at a star-studded, late-night dance party celebrating first lady Michelle Obama’s 50th birthday, which was planned by Barack Obama.
At 50, she’s got some of the most envied arms, a killer wardrobe, and quite the social life.  Happy 50th Birthday, Michelle Obama!

Start 2014 with a New Look

It’s common knowledge that people often make resolutions to take better care of themselves in the new year.  Some get a personal trainer or a gym membership, some start a diet, but a new trend of starting the year with plastic surgery is becoming more common.  Instead of heading off to the gym, patients are headed to the plastic surgeon for everything from injections of Botox to a face lift or breast augmentation.
Adding to the increase in ringing in the new year with surgery, is the increase in gift cards for the services of a plastic surgeon being given on Christmas. And now that the fun — and stress — of the holidays are over, it’s a good time to renew yourself so you can look as young and energetic as you feel.
Announcing a New Year’s resolution can be the impetus for change, but there are other moments in time that prompt people to seek aesthetic plastic surgery as the best choice for enhancing their appearance. According to the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, common “watershed moments” include someone mistaking you as being much older; entering the competitive job market, where wrinkles are frowned upon; and post-pregnancy blues, when many new moms struggle with excess fat and sagging skin. Your defining moment might be the holiday photos posted on social media, when you realized your image isn’t as attractive as you’d like.
Once you’ve made the decision to rejuvenate, you’ll find many surgical and nonsurgical options including new techniques and classic, tried-and-true solutions. Breast augmentation is the most-requested cosmetic surgical procedure.
January is a great time for people to ‘restart’ themselves after the holidays. Many people follow through on a New Year’s resolution to improve their appearance by having breast augmentation, a tummy tuck, eyelid surgery, or a face-lift. Winter is also a time when we’re bundled up from the cold and we’re not as social. It’s the perfect time to have surgery, so when spring and summer come around you’re in shape and you have the look you want, so you can get out and enjoy the warm weather.
At the office of Dr. Mark Bishara and The Paragon Plastic Surgery & Med Spa, with offices in Mansfield and Southlake, we offer services from Cosmetic Surgery to Hair Restoration to Med Spa services.  We can help you kick on 2014 with Botox injections, fillers like Judederm Ultra Plus XC and the NEW Juvederm Voluma, laser hair removal, and many other laser procedures.  Please call our office at (817) 473-2120 to schedule a consultation for cosmetic surgery or hair restoration or visit our website at www.MarkBisharaMD.com to learn more about the procedures we offer.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year…

The last two weeks of December can be the busiest time of year for plastic surgery.
One — because the time off around the holidays allows people to heal without having to walk around the office with any tell-tale puffiness.
And two — for people getting procedures covered by insurance, the end of the year can be a good time to save some money, if they’ve already gone to the doctor a bunch and met their deductibles.

Beauty takes no holiday

December, particularly the latter half, is the busiest time of the year for many plastic surgeons, cosmetic dermatologists and doctors who perform weight-loss operations like gastric bypass. Some doctors say they do twice as many of these elective procedures per day in this period as during the rest of the year.
The reason: After many cosmetic procedures patients want to go underground during the days-long recovery period, which might involve swelling, bruising and extra healing time. The holiday season makes it easier to avoid interacting with others at work or in school car pools. A patient can be under the knife or laser beams early in the week and still be presentable by the time the parties start.

Many patients opt for Laser treatments, which promises to make patients look younger by removing freckles and dark spots with a laser. Some people like to hide out while they heal. Laser procedures are meant to leave the skin looking younger and offers patients little or no downtime.  The Laser 360 treatment has more downtime, but with people off work for the holidays- it can be the optimal time to try an ablative treatment like this.  Many other treatments are optimal this time of year, including Fotofacials, Clear Lift Skin Remodeling and fillers and injectables, such as Botox and Juvederm.

A lot of patients opt for this time to have cosmetic surgeries or laser procedures to look good for the new year and before spring rolls around.  Because people have limited time in the sun this time of year and are covered under layers of clothes- it makes it the perfect time of year for a surgery or laser treatment(s).
With school on break during these weeks, you don’t have to worry about seeing other parents while dropping off kids at school. You can have enough time to heal and be fabulous for New Year’s Eve.
Health insurance can be another reason that demand rises for certain elective surgeries in December. In the case of bariatric surgery, for instance, people might have met their insurance plan’s annual deductible and want to have the operation before year end. Patients do want to fly under the radar and they can do that during the holidays.
For plastic surgeons, the most popular procedures for December can be those that require the most time for healing, like face-lifts, breast augmentation and tummy tucks.  Our office also performs Robotic Hair Transplants, which offers no downtime.  But for some patients who want to discretely come in for a procedure and go unnoticed- the holidays can be a perfect time.
Dr. Bishara provides a wide range of cosmetic procedures to help patients look and feel their best. These procedures are designed to improve the appearance of the face and body through minimally invasive techniques that provide highly effective results. Many of these procedures can be combined in order to achieve your desired appearance.
