What to expect from procedure

When consulting with Dr. Mark Bishara, he will explain what will be done through out the procedure and give you and idea on what to expect after your first Robotic Fue. In some cases, it can take more than one procedure to achieve your goal.

Day of the procedure

On the day of your procedure here at the Paragon Plastic Surgery and Med Spa we recommend  for you to be well rested. Your Robotic Fue procedure will start early in the morning and take anywhere from 5 to 8 hours. Make Sure to wear comfortable lose fitting clothes.

During the procedure

During your Robotic Fue procedure expect to be sitting in the same position for a couple of hours. The Paragon Plastic Surgery and Med Spa staff will do everything to make sure  you are comfortable. Dr. Mark Bishara will have his staff shave your head completely or partially shaving only the donor area. Local anesthetic will be used to numb the areas being worked on. The robotic part of the procedure will then begin, a tensioner will be placed on the donor area to help with the direction and depth of the hair. The robot will start capturing images of the patient’s donor area in order to identify the different angles and density of the patient’s hair. Dr. Mark Bishara will then start maneuvering the robot and the direction begins. Dr. Mark Bishara’s techs will go behind the robot and manually extract the hair. Once the robot portion is done Dr. Bishara’s techs will completely extract all hairs and begin the manual implantation of the hair.

After the procedure

Once completing the implantation of the hair, Dr. Bishara’s techs will go over all instructions to help take care of your new hair and donor area. At the Paragon Plastic Surgery and Med Spa we will provide you with all items needed for the first week. You will be called the day after and at two weeks to follow up.

Advice..

After your robotic fue you want to make sure you follow instructions, the first three days are the most important. Make sure to take pain medications at the first sign of pain to help minimize discomfort. Avoid bending over to much, no exercising or heavy lifting at least for the first week. Avoiding touching your new hair as any rubbing etc. can easily dislodge the hair. Keep in mind that if your in doubt about anything you can always call the office.

Respectfully yours,

Robotic Hair Transplants

You never thought that a robot would be doing any type of surgery. Well the time is here! So maybe the robot doesn’t do it all on his own, Dr. Mark Bishara maneuvers the Artas Robot to help get you the best quality follicular units. The Artas Robot is fairly new it was introduced to the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgeons in 2008 and in 2011 it was cleared by the FDA! It is safe and reliable.

How it works!

Your probably wondering how a hair transplant is performed as it sounds like a lot of work. Well its not, Hair transplantation has gotten easier and faster with the help of the artas robot. On the day of your procedure you have an option of shaving your head or only the donor area from where the hair will be taken from (for men) women we will only shave the donor area leaving the rest of the hair to cover. Local anesthesia is used to minimize pain and discomfort along with valium to help relax. Once ready Dr. Mark Bishara will set the robot to begin the dissection part of the hair transplant procedure. The robot will begin dissecting as one of Dr. Bishara’s techs extracts the follicular units. Once completely extracted the follicular units are checked for quality and Dr. Mark Bishara begins making sites where there new hair will be planted. Dr. Bishara’s techs will then begin the planting process. After completing the planting of the follicular units post-op instructions will be reviewed to help you understand how to care for your new hair. Written instructions along with all of the supplies needed to care for your new hair will be provided. So you see its not as complicated as you thought it would the hardest part is always coming in for the initial consultation. After that everything is just a sit back and getting it done!

Stress!

Physical trauma such as surgeries, illnesses, automobile accidents, pregnancy, and emotional stress can cause hair loss. Don’t worry, situations as such only cause hair loss temporarily. Having such physical trauma causes the your hair to go in a state of shock. As your body begins to heal and recover the hair lost will begin to grow back. As for emotional stress prevent having anxiety and overthinking, exercising and therapy can be great support.  Even the infamous El Chapo has experienced this… read more, https://latino.foxnews.com/latino/news/2016/08/08/imprisoned-drug-lord-joaquin-el-chapo-guzman-going-bald-out-stress-lawyer-says/

Vitamin A and Protein

Sometimes we see as taking more than needed vitamin supplements is doing our body good. Vitamin A containing supplements can trigger hair loss. Keep in mind that the daily dose of Vitamin A is 5,000 IU for adults. Lack of protein in ones diet can also shut down hair growth. Usually hair loss begins 2 to 3 months after protein intake drops. Controlling intake amounts of vitamin A and making sure your getting protein in will solve the issue.

Male Pattern Baldness or Heredity?

Both! Male pattern baldness is caused by a mixture of genes and hormones. MPB (male pattern baldness) follows a pattern in which hair is lost at the temples. Hair loss in women is known as androgenic or androgenetic alopecia. Women don’t usually have a receding hairline like men do. Women will have noticeable hair loss or thinning at the part. Both women and men benefit from minoxidil or rogaine to help grow and maintain the existing hair. Hair transplantation and PRP treatments are also and option.

Hypothyroidism

Having an underactive thyroid gland can cause hair loss as well. Your thyroid gland produces hormones that interact with your metabolism and growth. When it is not producing enough hormones it affects your hair causing it to fall out. Taking synthetic thyroid medication and getting thyroid levels to normal should take care of the issue.

Alopecia Areata

Alopecia Areata is a result of an overactive immune system. As our immune system is going it targets our hair as a foreign object and attacks causing hair loss in round patches through out the scalp. Steroid injections and romaine are the go to’s when treating alopecia areata.

Hair Styling

Over styling our hair with tight braids, ponytails or using products such as hot oils or relaxers can hurt our hair. Doing these types of treatments or the way we style our hair can cause root damage causing your hair to be lost permanently. Limiting the amount of use of these products or hair styles will help us keep our hair longer. Avoid using heat products to once a week if possible.

As just the word “surgery” can be quite frightening, people forget that there are different types of treatments for hair loss. The Paragon Plastic Surgery and Med Spa has them for you!

Capillus Laser Cap

The capillus laser cap is the first FDA cleared laser cap that helps prevent hair loss. Although we know hair that has been lost will not regrow why not save what is left. The Capillus 272 helps men and women that suffer from androgenetic alopecia. It is designed with low level laser lights that have been proven to promote hair regrowth in both men in women according to capillus.com The cap is recommended to be used 30 minutes every other day. The Capillus laser caps are powered with a battery pack which makes it easier to use for people on the go. The caps can be used while running errands, at home cooking, or picking up the kids as it looks just like a regular ball cap.

Minoxidil

Minoxidil is a antihypertensive vasodilator medication used to slow down hair loss and in some cases help promote hair regrowth. Minoxidil is sold over the counter which makes it easier for people to access at their local store such as walmart, cvs, or walgreens. Minoxidil should be applied topically on the scalp. Both men and women suffering from androgenic alopecia can benefit from minoxidil. Minoxidil is the only topical product that is FDA approved to help with hair loss. The solution is formulated to include a 5% solution for men a 2% solution concentrated for women. Minoxidil must be used indefinitely for continued support and maintaining existing hair.

PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) Treatment

Our blood plasma is known to contain active growth factors that promote hair growth. So how is a PRP done?  Our own blood is drawn and placed in to a centrifuge where it spins for about 10 to 15 minutes so that only the enriched platelets remain. Once separated into a different syringe using a thin needle the PRP is injected in to the scalp and all areas that will be treated for hair loss. Local anesthetic is used to help with any discomfort. The treatment takes about an hr to and hr and a half and the results are safe and reliable.

Propcecia/Finasteride

Propecia/Finasteride is a one a day pill used to treat male pattern baldness and hair loss on the vertex and mid scalp. Propecia is made only for the use on men. Women should not use propecia as it can cause birth defects in a fetus. Six months into treatment is when men typically  see improvement.

Does PRP sound familiar? PRP or Platelet Rich Plasma has been around for quite some time. It is commonly used for joint rejuvenation, male enhancement and aesthetic procedures like face lifts.
What about hair loss? Hair loss can be caused by many factors in both men and women. Whether it is genetic or for medical reasons, no one likes the fact that they are losing hair. Now a days there are many options to help with hair loss. Some such as minoxidil or roGaine, laser therapy and even hair transplantation.
Did you know that now not only does PRP help with joints and aesthetic procedures, but now it is an option for hair loss as well. PRP is created from the patients own blood, it is placed in a centrifuge so that the plasma is separated. PRP stimulates the present hair to produce longer and stronger strands of hair.  Local anesthetic is used to help minimize any pain and discomfort. The PRP is then injected to the areas that Dr. Bishara has recommended to be treated.
One of the good things about this treatment is there is no down time, you can resume regular activities the moment you leave our office. Some swelling may occur but it is not very common. PRP is a great option if surgery to preserve your existing hair and to support hair transplantation. A consultation with Dr. Mark A Bishara is all it takes to get started with hair loss prevention.
