Have you ever looked at your tattoo and wondered “What was I thinking?” Well there is help with laser tattoo removal. The technology of laser tattoo removal has evolved over the years to be safe and effective for all skin types with little side effects compared to how it was done in the past. Here at Paragon Plastic Surgery and Med Spa Dr. Mark A. Bishara and his staff can help you get rid of that tattoo with our state of the art technology.

How does it work?
Tattoo removal lasers, also called Q-switch lasers, use very short and fast pulses to help break the ink into much smaller particles to be carried away by the body’s white blood cells and transfer it to the liver. The ink is recognized as a toxin in the body and will flush it out through the lymphatic system like all other toxins. Black ink typically responds the best because of the 1064 wavelength that is absorbed by darker colors. Other wavelengths such as the 532 KTP or the 694 Ruby laser are absorbed by colors like red, blue and green. There are many other factors that play a role in laser tattoo removal such as, size, location, the individual’s ability to heal, how the tattoo was done and how long has it been in place.

How many sessions will I need?
Typically with laser tattoo removal it is hard to guarantee how many treatments it will take with so many factors that play a role in laser tattoo removal. Tattoo removal can usually take anywhere between 6 to 15 sessions spaced out every 6 to 8 weeks.

Does it hurt?
Most patients describe the treatment as equally uncomfortable as getting the tattoo. The plus side of that is that it can be done extremely fast compared to getting it done. To help alleviate some discomfort an anesthetic topical cream and some ice may be applied 30 minutes before the treatment.
What can I expect after my treatment?
Following the treatment your technician will apply an antibiotic ointment and cover the tattoo with a bandage or gauze. You will experience a sunburn like sensation and mild to moderate swelling. You must keep the area clean and covered with ointment for 3 days. It is also very important to keep your tattoo out of the sun while receiving your treatments to avoid increased sensitivity from the laser. The area might also form a scab, which should be handled gently. After healing, the ink will gradually fade.

What are the side effects?
Side effects are typically few but may include hypo- or hyperpigmentation, lack of complete pigment removal and a small percentage of permanent scarring.
If you are considering laser tattoo removal, Dr. Mark A. Bishara and his staff can help you get on your way to removing your unwanted tattoo.

A growing number of women are seeking treatment for thinning and age related hair loss issues. In 2014, women contributed 15% to surgical hair restoration patients and 40% nonsurgical patients according to ISHRS data. It is often harder for women to seek help with hair restoration than it is for men. Transplant offices can be mainly populated with men but at The Paragon Plastic Surgery & Med Spa female patients find it calming to come in for their consultations and see an even mixture between both men and women.
For women hair loss and thinning can be devastating even more so than men at times because healthy flowing hair is tied to femininity.
Begin with a scalp examination by Mark A. Bishara M.D. P.A. and possible testing that will help rule out conditions that may cause the existing thinning of the hair and also a discussion about the patients lifestyle and how they choose to fuel their body with the right nutrition.
Androgenic Alopecia is the most common cause of hair loss among both men and women. In women, the hair becomes thinner all over the head, and the hairline does not recede. Androgenetic alopecia in women rarely leads to total baldness. In women, this form of hair loss is associated with an increased risk of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). PCOS is characterized by a hormonal imbalance that can lead to irregular menstruation, acne, excess hair elsewhere on the body (hirsutism), and weight gain. This form of hair loss affects an estimated 30 million women in the United States. In women, hair loss is most likely after menopause. With Androgenic Alopecia hair growth begins under the skin in structures called follicles. Each strand of hair normally grows for 2 to 6 years, goes into a resting phase for several months, and then falls out. The cycle starts over when the follicle begins growing a new hair. Increased levels of androgens in hair follicles can lead to a shorter cycle of hair growth and the growth of shorter and thinner strands of hair. Additionally, there is a delay in the growth of new hair to replace strands that are shed.
Treatments for Women Suffering From this include: Rogaine (minoxidil) and LLLT treatments. LLLT treatments such as Capillus 272 are a great option for women that we also carry at The Paragon Plastic Surgery & Med Spa. Capillus 272 Laser Cap (FDA Approved Treatment) prevents hair from falling out and aids in increasing the patients existing hair mass by 30-40%. Most women are thrilled with the responses they get. More than anything else, women are excited to see that their existing hair is no longer falling out. Shampoos such as Nizoral (ketoconazole dandruff shampoo, McNeil ) or Nioxin can help clean up the scalp and perhaps improve the effectiveness  of other treatments. Vitamins such as BioSil and Viviscal target hair loss and help provide the missing nutrition that the hair follicles are needing. These medications increase women’s likelihood to hold on to their existing hair and improves the quality of hair growth.
PRP Treatments – Innovation to the World of Hair Restoration –  At The Paragon Plastic Surgery & Med Spa we implement several PRP Treatments a week. These treatments are done alone or in conjunction with Hair Transplantation Procedures to further enhance their results. PRP is used to halt or reverse miniaturization, the process that causes common baldness. A combination of PRP Treatments, minoxidil and LLLT are key for women experiencing hair loss.

The secret to what looks like hair

What exactly is Scalp Micro Pigmentation and how does it differ from a Robotic Hair Transplant? The SMP (also known as the medical hairline tattoo) is a non-surgical treatment that injects ink underneath your skin to appear as if you have small hair follicles growing into what looks like a “buzz cut.” This treatment looks as if you’re receiving little tattoo-like dots on the epidermal layer of the scalp which are created from natural pigments consisting of different shades, however, it’s much more than just a tattoo. The doctor performing the treatment creates tiny, irregular marks in places that you’re experiencing baldness and the outcome is impeccable. SMP is not known to cause pain during the process but patients have said that it’s more of an annoying feeling.

Thousands of men in the United States suffer from hair loss just as the man pictured above. Scalp Micro Pigmentation could be the perfect option for this candidate pictured above. As you can see, the front area of his head and parts in the back are places that he is experiencing hair loss. The insertion of ink into these different spots could make him look as if he has a full head of hair and could potentially give him a more youthful appearance. Candidates that consist of all ages, colours, and skin types are suitable for SMP. Whether you’re suffering from mild to major hair loss, SMP can restore what looks like a well-groomed head of hair.
The number of sessions and the amount of time each session takes varies from patient to patient. On average, there are usually 2-3 sessions with each session taking up to 4 hours. The most important part of this treatment is said to be the hairline because it is the main area that people look at when examining your hair/head. Each patient has different expectations for their results. Some patients want a defined hairline while others try to go for the more natural look. When you schedule a consultation with the doctor of your choice, you and the doctor can decide which option would be best for your case. The advantages of SMP include no down time following the treatment, the natural appearance because of the different shades of pigmentation and irregular marks, and it’s permanent so you won’t have to worry about follow-up procedures.

What is cool sculpting?
The CoolSculpting fat-freezing procedure is the only FDA-cleared,* non-surgical fat-reduction treatment that uses controlled cooling to eliminate stubborn fat that resists all efforts through diet and exercise. The results are proven, noticeable, and lasting—so you’ll look great from every angle.
What to expect:
You’ll meet with Dr. Bishara for a one-on-one consultation. He will take the time to discuss a holistic approach to your goals for reshaping your body. Together, you’ll look at your whole body from different angles—and then focus on specific areas where you want to eliminate fat.  You will undergo a Vectra 3D scan
How it works:
The CoolSculpting procedure safely delivers precisely controlled cooling to gently and effectively target the fat cells underneath the skin. Treated fat cells are crystalized (frozen), then die. Over time, your body naturally processes the fat and eliminates these dead cells, leaving a more sculpted you.
Fat reduction vs weight loss:
After dieting and weight loss, fat cells get smaller but the number of fat cells stays the same. When weight is gained, fat cells get bigger. The CoolSculpting fat-freezing procedure actually reduces the number of fat cells in treated areas by about 20% to 25%. These fat cells are naturally processed and eliminated, so they won’t migrate to another area of your body. And, unlike what happens with other procedures, there’s no change to fat cells in untreated areas.
