No Stitches, No Linear Scar

As popular as hair transplants are getting, nobody likes stitches or the scars that are left after the hair transplant. When it comes to hair transplant surgery ARTAS is the way to go. Who ever thought, a robot performing hair surgery. With the ARTAS you don’t have to worry about stitches, and better yet NO linear SCAR!!
ARTAS Robotic System

ARTAS Who?

The ARTAS Robotic System was created by Restoration Robotics in 2002 for the treatment of hair loss. Great news, the ARTAS Robotic System is FDA cleared! It only gets better, Dr. Mark A. Bishara at The Paragon Plastic Surgery and Med Spa has performed hundreds of hair restoration surgeries using the ARTAS Robotic System. The ARTAS Robotic System utilizes follicular unit extraction (FUE). Not only dissection, The ARTAS has the ability to make recipient sites. The ARTAS Robotic System has the ability of identifying and selecting your best hair for harvesting. With digital mapping it has the ability to provide a consistent graft dissection. Scarring is very minimal, unnoticeable at that. The recovery period with ARTAS Robotic System is fast making it easier for you to get back to your normal activities quicker.

ARTAS Animation

Behind the scenes of The ARTAS Robotic System

The day of surgery here at The Paragon Plastic Surgery and Med Spa we bring the patient in and start off with consents and paperwork.  The day prior to surgery Dr. Mark A. Bishara will have some medications called and the patient will bring them along the morning of surgery. Dr. Mark A. Bishara’s staff will then begin to prep the patient beginning with trimming the patient hair so that it is easier for the ARTAS Robotic System to identify and extract. The patient’s donor  area is numbed using local anesthesia. The patient will then be seated in prone positon as we prepare the ARTAS Robotic System. A tensioner is placed on the patient scalp to help with dissection and depth. Dr. Mark A. Bishara then begins to maneuver the ARTAS Robotic System. The ARTAS Robotic System will start capturing images of the patient’s donor area in order to identify the different angles and density of the patient’s hair. The dissection begins, as the ARTAS Robotic System is dissection Dr. Mark A. Bishara’s tech will go behind and manually extract the the follicular units as the ARTAS Robotic System disects. Once all follicular units are dissected and extracted, Dr. Mark A. Bishara’s techs will begin to manually transplant the new hair in to the patient’s recipient area. Before you know it, you’ll be walking out with a new hair set!

Deciding to have a hair transplant procedure is an important, life-changing decision. Understanding the details of the ARTAS® Robotic Procedure will help you determine if it is right for you. You will need to know what to expect before, during and after the procedure, as well as when you can expect to see results.
The ARTAS Robotic Procedure was designed with you in mind. Developed with leading hair transplant physicians and researchers, this state-of-the-art technology was created to eliminate the guesswork and fatigue associated with manual handheld methods, along with the scarring, complications and downtime of existing invasive surgical techniques. Unlike older transplant methods, no stitches are required, rendering your procedure nearly undetectable. You can now expect natural-looking results without the side effects and recovery times resulting from older techniques. Overcome the negative stigma associated with traditional hair transplants and reap the benefits of this revolutionary, physician-controlled technology.
During the initial stage, hair is selectively harvested with robotic precision providing consistent graft dissection. Advanced robotics provide speed and harvesting accuracy unavailable with manual handheld techniques.
The ARTAS System uses Recipient Site Making to implement your treatment design which is carefully created with the ARTAS Hair Studio Technology. Using the process of robotic Recipient Site Making, the ARTAS System protects your existing, healthy hair. Survival and growth rates of the transplanted hair depends entirely on the meticulous creation of these robotic recipient sites.

How Will You Look?

The ARTAS Hair Studio® Technology is a 3D photograph based simulation of your potential procedure results. During your consultation, your clinician will work to design your personalized cosmetic hair pattern and illustrate different options, showing you various graft counts and hair distribution, with your direct input. The same ARTAS Hair Studio Technology is used to create your robotic Recipient Site Making treatment design which is then transferred to the ARTAS Robotic System for implementation.

Day of the Procedure

Most ARTAS Robotic Procedures start in the morning and end in the afternoon. Wear comfortable clothes and bring a loose-fitting hat to wear home after your procedure.

During the Procedure

During the ARTAS Robotic Procedure, you will be seated and the physician and clinical team will do everything they can to ensure your comfort. A local anesthetic will be used while you remain awake and alert during the procedure. Most patients describe their experience as virtually pain-free.
The physician-assisted ARTAS® Robotic System will use advanced algorithms to select the best hairs for harvesting, while preserving the natural look of your donor area. Your aesthetic design from ARTAS Hair Studio is delivered to the robot for Recipient Site Making. Your hair is then transplanted into thinning areas.
There will be time for breaks during the procedure, so you should expect to have a pleasant experience throughout the process.

After the Procedure

You will be able to return home immediately after the procedure. Your clinician will instruct you on how to care for your newly transplanted hair. Most people will sleep comfortably without pain immediately post-procedure and will return to their regular activities in a few days.

Your New Hair Growth

Follow your clinician’s instructions on how to shampoo and care for your hair. Your newly transplanted hair, like the rest of your hair, grows steadily over time. After a few months, you will begin to see new hair growth. Around six months, you will start to notice significant growth. Your hair will continue to grow in the treated areas over time. You will be able to take care of your newly transplanted, permanent hair as you normally would.

Body Hair Transplantation is essentially taking hair from other areas of the body rather than the most common, the back or sides of the head, and then planting those hairs to the balding area. The other donor areas that hair follicles can be taken from includes: beard, chest, shoulders, stomach, arms and legs. Below are 6 Frequently asked questions concerning Body Hair Transplantation.

Typical Candidate

In cases where the head hair has depleted or the type of hair needed to transplant is different than the type of hair on the head.

Color

If someone wants a beard transplantation from their blonde head hair to their patchy red beard, the blonde hair color is not going to change to red once the hairs are transplanted to the beard. However, the mixing of these colors and those alike could potentially create a strawberry blonde look. If mixing different colors of hair is the only option available, the patient has the option to dye the hair all over once it’s completely healed because it is normal hair by then and can be treated that way.

Length

Hair length will grow as it did in the donor site. So if you’re using hair from other parts of the body besides the head you are committing to having shorter hair. Beard and hair from the head are hairs that for most never stop growing at a certain length or amount of time. Hair on the chest, legs and arms essentially stop growing at a certain length usually around 3 to 6 cm.

Texture

Hair texture will keep the same texture as it had before it was transplanted to another area. For instance if one was wanting eyebrow restoration, the typical donor site would be arm or leg hair. Arm or leg hair would be used in eyebrow transplantation because this hair is finer and the growth isn’t going to be long.

Structure

Body hair can change its structure. In some cases the hairs would become longer and straighter which is adapting to normal hair on the head. In others, the hairs wouldn’t change from their original structure.

Scaring

FUE otherwise known as Follicular Unit Extraction using ARTAS is a procedure that extracts the hair follicles with one-millimeter punches. The tiny size of each extraction makes scaring almost out of the question, in most cases leaving only little white dots if anything at all.

The holiday season with all its parties, family gatherings, and New Year’s resolutions can be stressful for men and women of all ages because this is typically a special time when they want to look and feel their best despite all the stress frequently associated with holiday events.
Dr. Mark A. Bishara, M.D. P.A. and his staff at The Paragon Plastic Surgery and Medspa can help each individual man or woman look and feel their best for all holiday events coming up.  Dr. Bishara takes the time to cultivate individual relationships with his patients in order to assure that they receive their desired look.  He uses the term “patient” because he says, “I feel the term patient is a more personal and appropriate term because I am working with people in personal ways.”
In his new state-of-the art facility completed in 2014, he offers the full gamut of cosmetic procedures such as robotic hair restoration, breast augmentation, tummy tuck and a variety of laser procedures. The calming music and soothing décor of his new facility create an atmosphere to ease the nerves of any anxious patient.  “Sometimes patients come in extremely nervous, and my goal is to provide a calming, relaxing environment to reduce their anticipated anxiety,” he said.  Additionally, Dr. Bishara takes the time to listen, discuss and explain all treatment options before outlining an appropriate treatment plan.
In his Paragon office in Mansfield, Dr. Mark A. Bishara, M.D. P.A. offers “Wrinkle-Free Wednesday.”  Patients can come in for Botox and Xeomin treatments at discounted rates.  It’s easy to see why this is the most popular and busiest day of the week for Dr. Mark A. Bishara, M.D. P.A. and his staff.  He treats hundreds of patients seeking these non-invasive, preventive procedures from 8am until 8pm.  “We go through enough Botox to remove every single wrinkle from an elephant’s skin,” he grinned, “but my goal is for them to still look like themselves,” he explained.
Also, as an AAAHC certified facility and dual trained surgeon, he can provide acute care as well as cosmetic surgical services.  His goal is to make sure that every patient’s needs are satisfactorily and effectively met.  In the spirit of giving this holiday season, Dr. Mark A. Bishara, M.D. P.A. plans to open a combined clinic that will offer reduced rates for general surgical procedures including lumpectomy, advanced laparoscopic hernia and gallbladder procedures, and varicose vein ablation.
“The current medical system in this country is not sustainable.  Hospitals and surgery centers charging $11,000 for a 15-minute procedure is simply not feasible when it could be offered at a more reasonable price,” he said.  These large centers are sometimes bound to hold pricing high due their contracted rates with insurance companies.  As a responsible physician, he wants to provide clinical services that promote and foster a medical system that is sustainable and affordable.  That is why he has announced the addition of four advanced laparoscopic surgeons to the staff at the Paragon Surgery Center in Mansfield.  Surgical procedures are now being offered to all patients state-wide for a cash price that is often less than some deductible plans.  Although this system is intended to be cash based, some patients will still be able to submit the charges for reimbursement through their out of network benefits.
As his services continue to grow and expand, Dr. Mark A. Bishara, M.D. P.A. has two other locations for the convenience of his patients; Southlake and North Park.
As the holiday season and the new year approach, let Dr. Bishara and his staff help you look and feel your best.  Call one of his three convenient locations at 817-473-2120 or email appointments@markbisharamd.com to make an appointment and ensure that you enjoy the holidays knowing that you truly look your best!
