There are seasons for everything, but one thing you wouldn’t expect to be seasonal is cosmetic surgery. Any plastic surgeon, however, will tell you that the spring is the season for breast augmentations and liposuction, and the season for facelifts is right after Christmas. And many other procedures are more common during certain times of the year.

The reasons for this seasonality become obvious when you consider each procedure. During the spring, women start thinking about that dreaded bathing suit. They try them on and might notice a little fat that wasn’t there last year, or they might wish they filled it out better in certain areas. Since it takes a month or so to look reasonable in a bathing suit after cosmetic surgery, by July 4, if the surgery hasn’t been performed yet, many women wait until after the summer.
When it comes to facial surgery, like face or eyelid lifts, fall or winter surgery is most common. While you should be able to face the public two weeks after a facelift, you might not really want to. You’ll have residual swelling and even a little bruising up to a month after the lift, and there’s always a chance of some odd lumps and bumps. It’s a lot easier to wear scarves or heavier makeup when it’s cold outside. When planning for cosmetic surgery, you might be pleasantly surprised at how fast you recover, but 5-10% of people have one thing or another that slows down their recovery. When planning out your schedule, you really have to plan for the worst-case scenario.
Recovery from larger procedures takes longer than recovery from smaller procedures. And older women take longer to bounce back than younger ones. And, of course, if you have significant medical problems, you have a much higher chance of a complication after surgery; you and your surgeon may decide to forgo surgery and improve your appearance with less invasive procedures that are less demanding on your body.
While some office procedures like Botox, Xeomin and Fillers, are easier to do and really don’t have seasonality, not all types of procedures are suited for the summer. Chemical peels and some laser treatments require strict avoidance of sun, so unless you live in a cave or are a vampire, you might consider having these treatments during the fall-winter months.

1. Researchers say it’s an antidepressant. Findings presented at the American Society of Plastic Surgeons Plastic Surgery conference show the link between cosmetic surgery patients and a reduced dependency on antidepressant medication. Some doctors suggest that select patients who had undergone surgery stopped taking antidepressants shortly after their procedure; this could mean that they simply felt better and no longer needed prescription medication to cope.
Still, doctors recommend patients should not rely on cosmetic surgery solely because they’re dissatisfied with life. Anyone experiencing major life changes or other stress in their lives should avoid drastic changes in their appearance until the stress subsides.

When it comes to tackling the signs of aging, you have to look at the problems that exist—loose skin, a loss of volume and textural changes. Fillers and injectables and surgery are not substitutes for one another. If the skin needs to be redraped, you need surgery. A filler can do a lot of things but it can’t ever get rid of loose skin. It’s important to be educated on the rejuvenating modalities available. Recovery, risks and expenses need to be considered. When comparing fillers, lasers and surgery, the price tag associated with each can be quite different, ranging froma few hundred to a few thousand dollars, if not more. Fillers and injectables are the most affordable option; lasers fall between fillers and surgery; surgery is the most expensive option.
Choose skin tightening treatments if you have minimal looseness in the neck area: Different from a true laser but often labeled as such, skin-tightening devices (relies on radio-frequency energy) to tighten loose skin by stimulating collagen at the dermal layer. They don’t resurface the texture of the skin but instead cause new collagen to be created by deeply heating the underlying layers of the skin with energy like ultrasound or radio frequency. The existing collagen is injured and reorganizes itself as part of the healing process. As it does this it tightens the skin to some degree.
What it can’t do: Correct textural issues; give the same end result as what can be accomplished with a facelift or necklift
What it can do: Create new collagen, which, in turn, lends a smoothing and tightening effect; can also be used to correct slight looseness in the cheeks and eyelids
Choose a necklift if you have moderate to extreme laxity and sagging in the neck area: A smooth, long neck is a quintessential characteristic of femininity. But with time, the neck loses its elastic support and the muscles become lax. If we are concerned as to how the neck line is defined, surgery may be the best option to correct it. During the procedure, neck muscles are tightened up and extra skin is trimmed away. If extra fat is also a problem, it can be removed.
What it can’t do: Improve skin quality
What it can do: Restore definition to the lower part of the face; reduce banding in the neck
Combination therapies, in which doctors use a mix-and-match approach to rejuvenation, are important. You almost always have to use lasers, skin care, neurotoxins, fillers and surgery together for the best results. For total rejuvenation it’s often recommended that several different procedures be done. While you can get good results with just surgery, a laser or fillers alone, using them in tandem may create better results. Surgery works to first rebuild the structure and foundation of the face so you know how much filler needs to be added to restore the lost volume. A good ongoing skin-care program is the true icing on the cake.

Lots of people are availing and undergoing cosmetic surgery nowadays. It is much more widely available nowadays and its cost is also very affordable. Hence, this is no longer a thing of the rich people. Aside from that, it is also really popular because of the advantages of the procedures.
There are at least three (3) common and most popular advantages of undergoing cosmetic surgery. These are related to the physical enhancement, fast procedure as well as long-lasting effects and results.
Cosmetic surgery Enhances Physical Looks
On the one hand, the primary advantage and benefit of cosmetic surgery is that it is being done in order to enhance the physical appearance of your body parts. Unlike the plastic surgery procedures, different cosmetic surgical procedures are commonly intended for vanity and improving physical looks more than functional reasons. According to different reviews and success stories, this is actually considered as the most effective way to get rid of some unwanted marks and scars on your body. For example, if you notice some wrinkles on your forehead already, you can choose to undergo cosmetic surgery in order to resolve it.
Fast Procedures of Cosmetic surgery
On the other hand, another advantage of the cosmetic surgery is that this is actually regarded, not only the best, but also the fastest way to resolve your physical problems. This is because it will only take you several hours in order to complete the procedure and you will enjoy its results already immediately afterwards. This is unlike ordinary beauty products that will take you several weeks and even month in order to notice the results. There are even time when those ordinary products will only let you enjoy the results for couple of day and not permanently.
Long-lasting Effects and Results
Last, but I think not the least important and popular advantage of cosmetic surgery procedures, has something to do with its effects. Well, I am specifically referring to the long-lasting effects of results that you will be able to enjoy with this kind of cosmetic procedure. Unlike the other ordinary products for cosmetic and labeled to enhance the physical looks of your body, this one will let you enjoy almost permanently the effects and results of undergoing it. I have said this because its effects, last a very long period of time, if not permanently. Some procedures are even for a life time.

Eyelid surgery and facelifts are up. So are butt augmentations and neck lifts, according to new figures from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons that show a steady increase in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery procedures in the United States.
This was the fourth consecutive year of growth, the society reported, noting more than 15 million cosmetic surgeries and minimally invasive procedures were performed in 2013, an increase of 3 percent from the year before.
Nose jobs, liposuction and laser hair removal missed the boom, however. These procedures declined from the previous year, the report said.
Meanwhile, reconstructive surgeries increased by 2 percent, the society reported.
Better technology and new products, including a facial filler that uses hyaluronic acid (Juvederm Voluma) to treat mid-face volume loss as well as two types of silicone gel breast implants recently approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, are likely the reason behind the upward trend, the society noted.
“The demand for plastic surgery remains strong, with our statistics showing increases in both cosmetic surgical and minimally invasive procedures,” said society president Dr. Robert Murphy.
“Facial rejuvenation procedures were especially robust last year, with more Americans opting for facelifts, forehead lifts, eyelid surgery, fillers and peels,” Murphy said in a society news release. “With new devices and products hitting the market each year, there are more options and choices available to consumers wanting to refresh their look or [undergo] a little nip and tuck.”
Of the 13.4 million minimally invasive procedures performed in 2013, the most common included:

  • Botox injections: 6.3 million injections, up 3 percent
  • Soft tissue fillers: 2.2 million procedures, up 13 percent
  • Chemical peels: 1.2 million procedures, up 3 percent

With more people taking steps to smooth out their wrinkles and folds, the report noted that Botox injections jumped 700 percent since 2000. And hyaluronic acid facial fillers have increased 18 percent since 2012.
There were also 1.7 million cosmetic surgeries in 2013, up 1 percent from a year ago. Among the most common procedures:

  • Breast augmentation: 290,000 procedures, up 1 percent
  • Nose jobs: 221,000 procedures, down 9 percent
  • Eyelid surgery: 216,000 procedures, up 6 percent
  • Liposuction: 200,000 procedures, down 1 percent
  • Facelifts: 133,000 procedures, up 6 percent

Silicone implants were used in 72 percent of all breast augmentations, while saline implants were chosen for 28 percent of these surgeries. The experts noted new technology offers women more natural looking and feeling results.
Butt augmentation with fat grafting and neck lifts are two new procedures also on the rise in the United States, according to the report.
There were 10,000 butt augmentation procedures performed in 2013, up 16 percent from 2012. More than 55,000 neck lifts were also performed last year, up 6 percent from the year before.
Reconstructive plastic surgery to improve both the appearance and function of abnormalities also increased 2 percent in 2013. The top reconstructive procedures performed last year include: tumor removal, up 5 percent from 2012; laceration repair, with 254,000 procedures; and scar revision.
Breast reconstruction, with 96,000 procedures, was up 4 percent last year.
“It’s promising to see breast reconstruction rates rising,” noted Murphy. “Less than 20 percent of breast cancer patients undergo breast reconstruction because they are not always informed of their options, although studies show that reconstruction greatly improves quality of life.”
