Have you ever looked at your tattoo and wondered “What was I thinking?” Well there is help with laser tattoo removal. The technology of laser tattoo removal has evolved over the years to be safe and effective for all skin types with little side effects compared to how it was done in the past. Here at Paragon Plastic Surgery and Med Spa Dr. Mark A. Bishara and his staff can help you get rid of that tattoo with our state of the art technology.

How does it work?
Tattoo removal lasers, also called Q-switch lasers, use very short and fast pulses to help break the ink into much smaller particles to be carried away by the body’s white blood cells and transfer it to the liver. The ink is recognized as a toxin in the body and will flush it out through the lymphatic system like all other toxins. Black ink typically responds the best because of the 1064 wavelength that is absorbed by darker colors. Other wavelengths such as the 532 KTP or the 694 Ruby laser are absorbed by colors like red, blue and green. There are many other factors that play a role in laser tattoo removal such as, size, location, the individual’s ability to heal, how the tattoo was done and how long has it been in place.

How many sessions will I need?
Typically with laser tattoo removal it is hard to guarantee how many treatments it will take with so many factors that play a role in laser tattoo removal. Tattoo removal can usually take anywhere between 6 to 15 sessions spaced out every 6 to 8 weeks.

Does it hurt?
Most patients describe the treatment as equally uncomfortable as getting the tattoo. The plus side of that is that it can be done extremely fast compared to getting it done. To help alleviate some discomfort an anesthetic topical cream and some ice may be applied 30 minutes before the treatment.
What can I expect after my treatment?
Following the treatment your technician will apply an antibiotic ointment and cover the tattoo with a bandage or gauze. You will experience a sunburn like sensation and mild to moderate swelling. You must keep the area clean and covered with ointment for 3 days. It is also very important to keep your tattoo out of the sun while receiving your treatments to avoid increased sensitivity from the laser. The area might also form a scab, which should be handled gently. After healing, the ink will gradually fade.

What are the side effects?
Side effects are typically few but may include hypo- or hyperpigmentation, lack of complete pigment removal and a small percentage of permanent scarring.
If you are considering laser tattoo removal, Dr. Mark A. Bishara and his staff can help you get on your way to removing your unwanted tattoo.

Losing hair can be quite terrifying! On a day to day many people can lose up to 100 hairs a day. One hundred is not as noticeable considering the size of each hair strand especially because hair is continuously growing. There are many causes as to how we lose hair.  Most cases are due to genetic predispositions, hormonal changes and medications.
Im sure you have heard of male and female pattern baldness. These type of hair loss are bound to occur due genetic predispositions! Yes! Family heredity can have a lot to do with it. Not cool, but it happens.
Another source to hair loss is hormonal change! It is known that hair loss due to hormonal imbalances can cause you to lose hair. Pregnancy and child birth are some of the causes of hormonal imbalances as well as thyroid problems.
Medications! Most people may not know but there are some medications that can cause some hair loss. Medications used for depression, cancer, hypertension, and heart problems are some! Vitamin A is another cause to hair loss. Intaking too much Vitamin A puts your hair at risk!  Even low levels of iron, thyroid, and low Vitamin D levels can cause hair loss.

Summer is here but you might be thinking that you didn’t quite get the summer body you wanted or have noticed stubborn fat that you cannot get rid of. Most people think that liposuction is just an easy way out of not having to work out or eat healthy, but it’s not!

Who should consider a liposuction

People who should consider having a liposuction are people that have those stubborn “love handles” or just fat that is hard to get rid of, even with exercising and dieting. Liposuction is not a weight loss procedure. For a liposuction procedure, the patient has to have a steady weight and should be in general good health. A liposuction is to help contour the patients body.

Treatable areas

Liposuction is most known to be done on the patients abdomen. Truth is liposuction can also be done on the flanks (“love handles”), hips, thighs, buttocks, and arms. Liposuction can also be done while getting a tummy tuck! Liposuction in general can give you that nice body contour that  has been so hard to achieve.

Dear Friends,
As we age our skin tends to lose natural support structures that keep our skin supple and youthful. Collagen and elastin deplete within the skin, which causes unwanted wrinkles and creases. Lets talk a little bit about Radiesse, Radiesse is a wrinkle filler used to plump the skin. Radiesse filler is injected under the skin adding volume immediately. One great benefit of Radiesse is that it continues to stimulate your body’s own natural collagen over time. Results when using Radiesse have shown to last a year or more in many patients.  As with any injection while doing a Radiesse treatment, the injections can be a bit uncomfortable. Luckily, Radiesse is FDA approved to be mixed lidocaine to help reduce any discomfort. Radiesse also provides results with high patient satisfaction. When opting to use Radiesse the patient should inform Dr. Bishara about all medications they are taking. Blood thinners such as aspirin or any other medication that can interfere with the clotting of the blood can make it more likely to bruise or have more bleeding at the injection site. Radiesse is a viable option to help provide a long lasting natural look while smoothing wrinkles immediately.
Respectfully yours,
Mark A Bishara, M.D., P.A. Medical Director

What is a Facelift?

A facelift purpose is to remove excess skin and tighten the underlying tissues and muscles on the face and neck. Facelifts are also used to correct any sagging in the face and those annoying hard to get rid off double chins. If you are experiencing any of the above then Dr. Mark Bishara at The Paragon Plastic Surgery and Med Spa is the surgeon you want to see!

What are facelift steps?

Ok so you’ve met with Dr. Mark Bishara and now its time to get things done. The incisions that will be made depend on the area that needs the change. After the incisions have been made there will be various degrees of “undermining” performed on the skin as the deep layers of your skin get lifted. What is undermining? Undermining is the separation of the overlying skin of the face and neck to the muscles and deep tissues of the skin. Soon after your skin will be raised from the temples, cheeks and neck and lifted and reposition. Any excess skin and fat will then be removed. The skin will then redrape over the new underlying structure and close with stitches.  You will then be wrapped with padded dressing.

How long will it take to recover?

Walking and light activities can be resumed 3 to 7 days after surgery. Avoid anything that puts pressure on your face such as lifting, bending, and straining for 7 to 14 days.  Try to suppress any forceful coughing or sneezing for 2 weeks. Avoid aerobic or heavy exercise for at least 3 weeks following surgery. Some swelling and bruising will develop and is minimized by resting in an elevated position. Rest and sleep in a reclining position with your head elevated 45 degrees for at least 2 weeks after surgery. You can resume make up after stitches have been removed. Scarring can be virtually invisible behind the ear, as incisions are usually made in hidden areas where the scars will look like small wrinkles.
